Summary:
HomeMade Energy is a reliable and sound D.I.Y. product. It passes the crucial test for comprehensiveness. HomeMade Energy covers in detail every step of the process that you need to know in order to successfully build your own fully functioning solar panel and an electricity producing wind turbine. HomeMade Energy is written in easy to understand English. However, we found the instructions and the diagrams could sometimes be integrated better together.
Homemade Energy consists of basically 2 parts: A PDF guide and video instructions. HomeMade Energy is a useful and good D.I.Y. guide but compared to other guides it does not offer any significant extras that could save you time and money.

If your goal is simply to build your solar panel or wind turbine, HomeMade Energy can certainly help to get you there.

Can I build my own solar panel and wind turbine with HomeMade Energy?
Yes, the instructions provided are complete. They cover everything you need to know to successfully build your own fully functioning solar panel. They include everything you need to do to build your own electricity generating wind turbine. HomeMade Energy has all bases covered and you will find all the information you need.

Are the instructions easy to understand and to follow?
The language used in HomeMade Energy is very clear and great for people with limited technical knowledge. The instructions are step-by-step, however, they can get a little bit confusing from time to time.
The diagrams are full color and overall well-labeled. However, they lack the occasional detail. The wind turbine plans appear to be slightly clearer than the solar panel plans. Luckily, the customer service is very helpful.
If you are happy to follow written instructions illustrated with good diagrams than HomeMade Energy is right for you. I personally find it easier to follow instructions when I can see somebody showing me exactly what to do and I only have to duplicate it. Therefore, I prefer the video instructions.

What about updates and customer support?
HomeMade Energy provides quick and helpful customer support via email. Updates are free for the lifetime of the product but no updates were made so far.

What Extras do I get?
HomeMade Energy does not provide any great extras.

Is HomeMade Energy good value for money?
HomeMade Energy is a sound product that contains all the information necessary for your successful D.I.Y. project. In that respect, it is a D.I.Y. guide that is suitable for anybody who wants to build a solar panel or wind turbine. However, at only 43 pages, HomeMade Energy could offer better value for money by providing more information to improve the flow of the instructions and a better tie in with the diagrams. HomeMade Energy is $2 cheaper than its’ rivals but as a customer I missed additional information on maintenance and those very useful extras that other D.I.Y. guides offer and that help to deliver a more comprehensive product.
